What this trial studies

The program delivers a co-developed primary prevention intervention (HPV animation) in participating middle and high school classes. The intervention is implemented with input from local stakeholders and delivered to students and supervising teachers at selected public schools. Vaccination uptake among 11–17-year-olds will be measured at six months after the intervention to determine any change in HPV vaccine coverage. The study targets routine school settings in the AuRA region and documents consent and parental non-objection per French regulations.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are boys and girls aged 11–17 who attend participating public middle or high school classes in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, can read French, are affiliated with social security, and for whom parents have not expressed non-objection.

Not a fit: Students who are already fully vaccinated against HPV, who do not attend participating schools, whose parents object, who cannot read French, or who are legally protected and excluded from the protocol are unlikely to gain vaccination benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could raise HPV vaccination coverage among adolescents in the region and help reduce future HPV-related cancers.

How similar studies have performed: Previous school-based education and outreach programs have increased HPV vaccine uptake in several settings, although results depend on local implementation and context.
