What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates a patient navigation program aimed at addressing disparities in breast cancer care for underserved women diagnosed with breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ. The program focuses on improving patient knowledge about available clinical and supportive services, helping them navigate these services, and managing barriers to care. By enhancing patients' skills related to cancer treatment management, the program seeks to promote health equity and improve quality of life for newly diagnosed patients over time.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 18 and older who have a confirmed diagnosis of breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ and have not had a previous cancer diagnosis.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, have a previous cancer diagnosis, or identify as male or intersex will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve access to care and quality of life for underserved women with breast cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with patient navigation programs in improving care access and outcomes for cancer patients, indicating this approach is promising.
