What this trial studies
This pilot test evaluates an interactive virtual occupational safety training system designed specifically for home healthcare workers. Participants will engage with one of three training modules and subsequently perform a walk-through in a simulated home environment to identify potential hazards. The study aims to assess the transfer of knowledge gained from the virtual training to real-world applications. The primary outcome focuses on learning transfer, measured by the participants' ability to identify hazards, while the secondary outcome evaluates their responses to those hazards.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 and older with no formal training in home safety who can read and write in English.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously participated in studies related to home healthcare worker occupational safety training or those with pre-existing conditions related to cybersickness may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this training could significantly improve the safety awareness and hazard identification skills of home healthcare workers.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in enhancing training effectiveness through virtual simulations.
