What this trial studies
The VICTORY trial aims to improve post-surgical care for older patients with frailty by comparing the effectiveness of virtual care using CloudDX technology to standard care. This innovative approach addresses the high risk of complications and hospital readmissions faced by frail surgical patients. Participants will receive remote monitoring and support from a multidisciplinary team following their surgery, with the goal of increasing the number of days they can remain at home. The study seeks to fill a critical gap in care for this vulnerable population, leveraging technology to enhance recovery and independence.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals over 60 years old diagnosed with frailty who are scheduled for elective surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are preoperatively residing in institutions or those unable to use virtual care technology may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve recovery outcomes and quality of life for older surgical patients with frailty.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using virtual care for post-surgical recovery is promising, this specific application for frail older adults is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
