What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of using Nintendo Wii video games combined with aerobic exercise to enhance exercise capacity and muscle strength in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD). The approach aims to increase patient motivation through gamification, addressing the low participation rates in traditional pulmonary rehabilitation programs. By employing objective methods to measure outcomes, the study seeks to provide evidence for a novel rehabilitation strategy tailored for ILD patients. The goal is to improve symptoms, activity levels, and overall quality of life for individuals affected by this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40-65 diagnosed with interstitial lung disease who are clinically stable and able to walk.
Not a fit: Patients with orthopedic or neurological issues that hinder exercise, or those with unstable cardiac diseases, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the physical activity levels and quality of life for patients with interstitial lung disease.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of gamification in rehabilitation is a growing field, this specific application in interstitial lung disease is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
