What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the effectiveness of Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) in predicting treatment outcomes for patients with substance use disorders, specifically focusing on cocaine and alcohol addiction. Participants will undergo a baseline assessment and then use a mobile platform for 12 days to report on their substance use, cravings, and psychological measures. The platform will prompt daily assessments and additional assessments during high-risk situations, utilizing cognitive bias tests to gather data. The study aims to recruit 130 participants from the Provincial Service for Drug Dependence and Addictions in Huelva, with ongoing professional supervision throughout their treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 initiating treatment for cocaine or alcohol addiction with a diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental disorders or those under 18 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance treatment personalization and improve outcomes for patients with substance use disorders.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing EMA for substance use disorders have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this approach.
