Using machine learning to diagnose endometriosis early
FEMaLe: The Use of Machine Learning for Early Diagnosis of Endometriosis Based on Patient Self-reported Data - Study Protocol of a Multicenter Trial
This study is trying to see if using a mobile app and artificial intelligence can help diagnose endometriosis earlier by collecting information from women with the condition and comparing it to those without it.

What this trial studies
This project aims to develop a large prospective data bank by utilizing the Lucy medical mobile application to collect and analyze patient profiles and structured clinical data through artificial intelligence. It focuses on understanding the relationship between dietary components and factors such as quality of life, pain, and central sensitization in women with endometriosis. The study will enroll 5,000 women diagnosed with endometriosis and 5,000 control participants, gathering self-reported information over a one-year period to improve diagnostic methods and patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women of reproductive age, both with and without a diagnosis of endometriosis.
Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant or have malignant conditions of the ovary, uterus, or breast may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce the time to diagnose endometriosis and improve the quality of life for affected women.
How similar studies have performed: While various screening methods have been proposed for endometriosis, this study's use of machine learning and a mobile application for data collection represents a novel approach.
