What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) in diagnosing myocardial ischemia by comparing its results with those from myocardial perfusion PET/CT scans. Patients referred for a PET/CT scan at Kuopio University Hospital will undergo CPET on a separate day. The study will assess whether the gas exchange parameters from CPET correlate with any perfusion defects identified in the PET/CT scan. Additionally, patients who receive invasive coronary treatments will participate in follow-up tests to evaluate recovery of myocardial perfusion through CPET six months post-treatment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients referred for a myocardial perfusion PET/CT scan at Kuopio University Hospital.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years, pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with certain disabilities or legal restrictions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the diagnostic accuracy for myocardial ischemia, leading to better patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using CPET in this context is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in correlating exercise testing with cardiac conditions.
