Using chemoembolization to treat desmoid fibromatosis
Chemioembolizzazione Arteriosa Per il Trattamento Della Fibromatosi Desmoide: Studio Osservazionale Prospettico

What this trial studies
This study focuses on the treatment of desmoid fibromatosis, a rare and locally aggressive tumor, using arterial chemoembolization with Doxorubicin. The approach aims to exploit the hypervascular nature of desmoid tissue to deliver chemotherapy directly to the tumor while minimizing systemic toxicity. Patients eligible for this treatment are those with symptomatic, actively growing tumors who are not candidates for surgery or cryoablation. The study will gather data on the efficacy and safety of this method based on previous retrospective and prospective studies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with symptomatic desmoid fibromatosis that is actively growing and who are not suitable for surgical intervention.
Not a fit: Patients with a life expectancy of less than three months or those with desmoid fibromatosis that is not in an active phase will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could provide a less toxic alternative for managing desmoid fibromatosis compared to traditional chemotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with similar approaches using chemoembolization for desmoid tumors, indicating potential efficacy.
