Understanding health improvements after mini gastric bypass surgery
CoMOrbidities Resolution After Mini-GAstric Bypass Surgery for Morbid Obesity and Change in BOdy Composition: A Prospective Cohort Study (MOGAMBO Study)
This study looks at how mini gastric bypass surgery can improve health issues related to obesity, like diabetes and sleep apnea, by tracking changes in body weight and other health markers after the surgery.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates how mini-gastric bypass (MGB) surgery affects comorbidities related to morbid obesity, such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, and hypothyroidism. Participants will undergo MGB surgery as per routine protocols, and the study will monitor changes in body composition and metabolic syndrome parameters post-surgery. The research aims to establish correlations between the resolution of these comorbidities and changes in body composition, while also assessing any complications arising from the surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals with morbid obesity who are scheduled to undergo laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass surgery.
Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing MGB surgery or those who have had previous bariatric procedures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into how MGB surgery can effectively improve obesity-related health issues.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that bariatric surgery can lead to significant improvements in obesity-related comorbidities, supporting the relevance of this research.
