What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the prevalence of gastric motor dysfunction and upper gastrointestinal symptoms in patients diagnosed with Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia (GAVE). Participants over 18 years old with endoscopic evidence of GAVE will undergo a Gastric Emptying Breath Test to assess stomach function and correlate it with symptoms like abdominal pain and nausea. The study seeks to enhance understanding of how often these symptoms occur in relation to the condition, thereby contributing valuable data to the medical community.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 with confirmed Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia and no other significant health issues.

Not a fit: Patients with severe liver disease, end-stage renal disease, or other significant metabolic disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and management strategies for patients suffering from GAVE and related gastrointestinal symptoms.

How similar studies have performed: While this study focuses on a specific condition, similar observational studies have successfully identified correlations between gastrointestinal symptoms and underlying vascular conditions.
