What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of the MAP for Coaches, a web-based training course designed to enhance youth sport coaches' knowledge and practices regarding musculoskeletal injury prevention. The study focuses on increasing coaches' understanding of injury types, risk factors, and best practices, particularly through neuromuscular training warm-up exercises. Participants will engage in the course and their knowledge, motivation, and application of these practices will be assessed over time. The trial aims to determine both the immediate and sustained impacts of the training on coaching behaviors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are active youth sport coaches involved in team sports such as soccer, basketball, football, or volleyball in the United States.
Not a fit: Coaches who also engage in adult coaching or lack an email address for communication may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the safety and performance of youth athletes by equipping coaches with essential injury prevention knowledge.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative in its specific focus on youth coaches, similar educational interventions have shown promise in improving knowledge and practices in other sports contexts.
