What this trial studies
This cluster randomized trial aims to develop and evaluate a health education package designed to enhance the preparedness of indigenous households in Selangor, Malaysia, for potential outbreaks and Disease X. The intervention includes workshops, simulation exercises, and card game sessions to improve awareness and proactive health behaviors among the Orang Asli community. Researchers will compare the preparedness levels and attitudes towards outbreak readiness between the intervention group and a control group. The study seeks to determine the effectiveness of this innovative approach in fostering health-related behaviors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Orang Asli individuals aged 18 to 99 who are heads of households and can converse in Malay.
Not a fit: Patients with severe health conditions or disabilities that impair their ability to participate in the intervention may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the outbreak preparedness and health attitudes of indigenous communities, potentially saving lives during health crises.
How similar studies have performed: While similar community-based health promotion interventions have shown promise in other populations, this specific approach targeting the Orang Asli community is novel and untested.
