What this trial studies

This project aims to assist individuals with mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) in enhancing their hearing abilities, particularly in challenging auditory environments. Participants will engage in specialized training exercises designed to improve their speech recognition in noise and spatial hearing skills. The training will be conducted at home over eight days, with participants receiving guidance and feedback through a tablet and earphones. The study will compare the effectiveness of these training exercises against control groups to assess their impact on hearing improvement.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-55 who have a self-reported history of mild traumatic brain injury.

Not a fit: Patients with significant hearing loss or major neurological or psychiatric conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this training could lead to better hearing outcomes for patients recovering from mild brain injuries.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using auditory training to improve hearing abilities, suggesting potential success for this approach.
