What this trial studies
This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a new smartphone app, SiS4, designed specifically for individuals who smoke nondaily and wish to quit. The app incorporates positive psychology exercises and proven smoking cessation tools to support users in their quitting journey. Participants will engage with the app daily for seven weeks, completing online surveys to assess changes in their smoking habits, attitudes, and mental well-being. The study will compare the SiS4 app's effectiveness against an existing app, QuitGuide, to determine which is more beneficial for nondaily smokers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who smoke less than daily but at least weekly and have a current intention to quit.
Not a fit: Patients who smoke daily or do not intend to quit smoking may not receive any benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could provide a tailored and effective tool for nondaily smokers to successfully quit smoking.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using mobile health interventions for smoking cessation, indicating that this approach may be effective for nondaily smokers as well.
