What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the satisfaction levels of Adolescent and Young Adults (AYA) aged 18-39 who are undergoing cancer treatment at the North Carolina Basnight Cancer Hospital. Participants will complete surveys and engage in semi-structured interviews to evaluate their experiences in two distinct infusion environments, focusing on aspects such as the built environment and interactions with mental health staff. The findings will help identify differences in patient satisfaction between the outpatient infusion spaces.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are English-speaking young adults aged 18-39 who are currently receiving treatment for cancer.
Not a fit: Patients with dementia, altered mental status, or psychiatric conditions that impair their ability to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the treatment experience for young adults with cancer by informing improvements in infusion space design and support services.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies focusing on patient satisfaction in healthcare settings, this specific approach targeting AYA cancer patients in infusion spaces is relatively novel.
