What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the utilization of various fluid types for resuscitation in critically ill patients across Southeast Asia. It focuses on three patient categories: those needing volume resuscitation without bleeding or sepsis, those who are bleeding but not septic, and septic patients. Data will be collected through a 10-minute online survey administered to physicians in the region, exploring factors influencing fluid management practices, including co-morbidities and clinician specialties. The findings will provide foundational insights for future clinical trials on fluid resuscitation strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are physicians specializing in Anesthesiology, Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonology, Nephrology, or Internal Medicine working in Southeast Asian hospitals.

Not a fit: Patients treated by physicians in cardiac, neurology, or pediatric ICUs may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance fluid management practices in critically ill patients, potentially improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and may have been explored in other contexts, the specific focus on fluid utilization in Southeast Asian ICUs is relatively novel.
