What this trial studies
This observational study collects data on the dietary habits of patients with rheumatologic diseases and their perceived impact on disease symptoms. It aims to determine if changes in diet, particularly towards healthier options like the Mediterranean diet, correlate with improvements in autoimmune disease activity. The study also explores patients' expectations for dietary advice from their rheumatologists and the resources they utilize for dietary changes. By analyzing these factors, the study seeks to understand the relationship between diet and symptom management in autoimmune conditions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults over 18 diagnosed with specific autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18, over 65, pregnant, or unable to consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into dietary modifications that may alleviate symptoms of autoimmune diseases for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on dietary changes in rheumatology patients, similar studies in other autoimmune conditions have shown promising results.
