What this trial studies

Researchers previously co-created a healthy sleep intervention with adolescents and piloted it. In this project they will implement that intervention in first- and second-year vocational secondary classes (ages 12–14) and provide training for teachers to deliver the program. The main aim is a process evaluation using participatory methods, including teacher training sessions and group interviews with students who did not participate in co-creation, to document how the program is adopted and adapted in schools. Results will be used to produce a ready-made implementation package for Flemish secondary schools.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are first- and second-year (ages 12–14) students in vocational secondary education and the teachers who help implement the intervention.

Not a fit: Students who took part in the co-creation phase are excluded from certain evaluation activities and may not be included, and adolescents with clinical sleep disorders needing medical treatment or students outside vocational tracks are unlikely to benefit from this school-based program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could improve sleep quality among vocational students and help reduce education-related health disparities.

How similar studies have performed: Healthy sleep programs have shown benefits in adolescents generally, but targeted implementation studies focused on vocational-education populations are novel and limited.
