What this trial studies

This is a single-center observational registry collecting clinical, microbiological, imaging, treatment, and outcome data for patients with infective endocarditis admitted to Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo. It includes cases from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2029 identified by the modified Duke criteria. Data will be extracted from medical records and entered into a database to characterize presentation, management choices (including medical and surgical therapy), microbiology, and short- and long-term outcomes. The registry aims to create a comprehensive dataset to inform clinical practice and future research on infective endocarditis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: People admitted to Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2029 with a diagnosis of infective endocarditis according to the modified Duke criteria.

Not a fit: Patients treated outside San Matteo, those without a confirmed diagnosis by the modified Duke criteria, or those seeking immediate experimental therapies are unlikely to gain direct benefit from this registry.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the registry could help clinicians improve diagnosis and treatment decisions for people with infective endocarditis and guide future research.

How similar studies have performed: Other single-center and multicenter endocarditis registries have identified risk factors and outcome patterns, so the registry approach is established and has been useful in improving care.
