What this trial studies

This observational study aims to collect long-term clinical data and biological samples from pediatric patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It will also include a control group of pediatric patients with disorders of brain-gut interactions who do not have detectable gut inflammation. Participants will undergo standard clinical evaluations, during which blood, stool, and tissue samples will be collected as needed. Additionally, urine samples will be collected specifically for research purposes during clinical visits.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients suspected of having Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis.

Not a fit: Patients with other serious medical conditions or those who are pregnant may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could enhance understanding of inflammatory bowel diseases and improve treatment strategies for affected pediatric patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in understanding inflammatory bowel diseases through similar observational approaches, indicating potential for success.
