What this trial studies

This study aims to create a multicenter registry to collect and analyze clinical data on pediatric patients who have undergone deep brain stimulation (DBS) for various movement disorders. By pooling data from multiple centers, the registry will facilitate large-scale analyses of the safety and efficacy of DBS in children, addressing the current lack of comprehensive evidence. The study will also explore factors influencing DBS responsiveness and the long-term effects of the treatment on quality of life. This centralized repository is essential for improving clinical practices and outcomes for pediatric patients with conditions like dystonia and Tourette syndrome.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 0-18 years who have received or are scheduled to receive DBS for neurological movement disorders.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have a neurological movement disorder or are outside the age range of 0-18 years may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could significantly enhance the understanding and effectiveness of DBS as a treatment for movement disorders in children.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on pediatric DBS outcomes, the establishment of similar registries in adult populations has shown success in improving treatment understanding and patient outcomes.
