What this trial studies
This registry collects data on fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). It aims to explore the relationship between gut microbiota and gastrointestinal diseases by tracking individuals who have received or are planning to receive FMT, as well as those who have donated stool for FMT. The study will analyze the effects of altering the microbiome on patient outcomes and the potential therapeutic benefits of FMT beyond its current use for Clostridium difficile infections.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have received or are planning to receive FMT or have donated stool for FMT.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could enhance understanding of FMT's effectiveness in treating inflammatory bowel diseases, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results for FMT in treating gastrointestinal diseases, indicating that this approach is gaining traction in the medical community.
