What this trial studies

This observational study aims to create a registry and biorepository for patients diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It involves the prospective collection of clinical data and biological samples, including blood, tissue, and fecal samples, during routine medical procedures. Participants will provide consent to share their health information and samples, which will be used for future research on IBD. The study will follow patients longitudinally, gathering data from both the patients and their gastroenterologists.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with known or suspected inflammatory bowel disease who can provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to comprehend or cooperate with study activities or those too ill to provide consent may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of inflammatory bowel diseases and lead to improved treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing registries and biorepositories for chronic diseases have shown success in advancing research and treatment options.
