What this trial studies

This study investigates whether preemptive education provided by anesthesiologists can decrease the incidence of maternal shivering during elective cesarean deliveries. The focus is on understanding how informing patients about the procedure may impact their physiological responses, specifically shivering, which can occur due to spinal anesthesia. By implementing this educational approach, the study aims to enhance patient comfort and outcomes during surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 19 years or older, at least 37 weeks pregnant, and scheduled for elective cesarean surgery.

Not a fit: Patients undergoing emergency cesarean deliveries or those with contraindications to spinal anesthesia will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to a reduction in maternal discomfort and complications during elective cesarean deliveries.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of preemptive education in this context may be novel, similar studies have shown that patient education can positively influence surgical outcomes.
