What this trial studies
This prospective study evaluates the feasibility and public health impact of a district-based program aimed at preventing Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) in Uganda. The initiative, known as ADUNU, implements decentralized RHD preventive services through community and facility-based echocardiographic screening for children and young adults. It also includes a registry-based secondary prophylaxis program using Benzathine penicillin G injections at local health centers. The study will assess the program's reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance, as well as its cost-effectiveness.
