This observational study aims to estimate the prevalence of psychiatric and substance use disorders among individuals living in precarious situations in Cayenne, French Guiana. It focuses on a vulnerable population that often lacks access to mental health care and support services. By conducting a cross-sectional analysis, the study seeks to gather data that can inform better care provision for those facing extreme exclusion and homelessness. The findings will help address the significant mental health needs of this population, which is currently under-researched.

Not a fit: Patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises or intoxication, which prevents them from participating, will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved mental health services and support for vulnerable populations in French Guiana.
