What this trial studies

This observational cohort study aims to investigate the epidemiology and risk factors associated with new HIV infections among individuals at high risk, specifically HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender individuals. Participants will be assessed for high-risk behaviors, including inconsistent condom use, recent sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and engagement in chemsex. Clinical data will be collected through laboratory tests and questionnaires to understand the incidence of HIV and related conditions. The study will provide valuable insights into the transmission dynamics of HIV in this vulnerable population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are HIV-negative MSM and transgender individuals over 18 years old who engage in high-risk sexual practices.

Not a fit: Patients who consistently use condoms and do not engage in high-risk behaviors may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved prevention strategies and targeted interventions for individuals at high risk of HIV infection.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in understanding HIV transmission dynamics among high-risk populations, making this approach both relevant and necessary.
