Observational study on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in Chinese patients

The Chinese Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Study(CHCS)

Observational China National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases · NCT02696135

What this trial studies

This study focuses on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a common inherited cardiac condition, by recruiting patients to collect comprehensive clinical data and biological specimens. It aims to explore the genetic and molecular underpinnings of HCM through multi-omics screening, which includes genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Additionally, the study will evaluate the effectiveness of existing sudden cardiac death risk stratification guidelines in the Chinese population and identify novel risk factors and predictive models tailored for these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy characterized by significant left ventricle wall thickness.

Not a fit: Patients with other cardiac or systemic diseases that cause similar cardiac hypertrophy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved risk stratification and personalized treatment strategies for patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy exist, this approach utilizing multi-omics and focusing on the Chinese population is relatively novel.

Eligibility criteria

Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients with HCM diagnosed by observation of unexplained maximal left ventricle wall thickness ≥15 mm on echocardiography and/or cardiac magnetic resonance imaging or or ≥13 mm for individuals with family history of HCM.

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with other cardiac or systemic diseases capable of producing that magnitude of cardiac hypertrophy.
