What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the use of the Hyfe Cough Tracker to screen, diagnose, and manage patients with respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma, and tuberculosis. Participants will be monitored for 30 days or until hospital discharge, using the Hyfe app to track cough frequency and intensity through a visual analogue scale. The study aims to create a dataset of annotated cough sounds to improve the AI system's performance in detecting coughs. Participants will be recruited from the Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Spain.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include outpatients or inpatients at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra with a complaint of cough.
Not a fit: Patients unable to use the Hyfe app due to lack of Wi-Fi access or unwillingness to participate may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the management of respiratory diseases by providing accurate cough monitoring and data-driven insights.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies using AI for cough monitoring have shown promise in enhancing respiratory disease management.
