What this trial studies
This is an observational study of adults whose primary cancer diagnosis occurred when they were 15–39 years old, designed to examine relationships among physical activity, thinking, and memory after treatment. Participants must be 18 or older, English-speaking, ambulatory, and able to complete study tasks on a desktop or laptop with reliable internet. Data will be collected non-interventionally using computerized cognitive tests, self-report measures, and measures of physical activity (device- or questionnaire-based). The Mayo Clinic in Arizona (Scottsdale) is the lead site for enrollment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18+ whose primary cancer was diagnosed between ages 15 and 39, who are ambulatory, English-speaking, willing to complete study tasks, and have a desktop or laptop with reliable internet are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People whose only cancer was nonmelanoma skin cancer, those diagnosed outside the 15–39 age window, those without reliable computer/internet access, or those with gross motor impairments preventing ambulation may not be eligible or likely to benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could reveal links between physical activity and cognitive health in AYA survivors that inform future efforts to improve memory and thinking.
How similar studies have performed: Previous research in adult cancer survivors has linked higher physical activity to better cognitive outcomes, but evidence focused specifically on adolescent and young adult survivors remains limited.
