What this trial studies

INSIGHT is a longitudinal observational study focused on childhood nephrotic syndrome, aiming to identify genetic, serologic, and environmental factors that contribute to the condition and its progression. The study involves a large multiethnic cohort and recruits participants from Toronto and surrounding regions, with plans to expand to additional sites in the future. By collecting data over time, the study seeks to test hypotheses regarding risk factors and disease outcomes in affected children.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 months to 18 years diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome.

Not a fit: Patients with congenital nephrotic syndrome or syndromic diseases involving multiple organ systems may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of nephrotic syndrome in children.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored genetic and environmental factors in nephrotic syndrome, but this specific longitudinal approach is relatively novel.
