Long-term tracking of adults with type 2 diabetes
Cohort Study of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes
This project will see if tracking metabolic, nutritional, and physical-function measures over time in adults with type 2 diabetes can identify risk factors to guide more personalized care.

What this trial studies
This observational cohort combines retrospective and prospective patients with type 2 diabetes to enable long-term follow-up of metabolic markers, complications (such as cardiovascular disease, nephropathy, and neuropathy), and changes in nutritional status and physical function. Participants will undergo basic assessments including dietary habit surveys, body composition, waist and weight measurements, and grip strength, with data collected at baseline and during periodic follow-ups. The study aims to link these measures to clinical outcomes and to identify risk factors that influence disease progression. Findings are intended to inform individualized treatment decisions and integrated care strategies within the Taiwanese clinical setting.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes who can give informed consent and complete basic physical and nutritional assessments are ideal.
Not a fit: People who cannot understand the study, cannot cooperate with assessments, or are judged clinically unsuitable are unlikely to benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help clinicians personalize treatments and prevent complications by identifying modifiable risk factors.
How similar studies have performed: Large observational cohorts of type 2 diabetes have previously identified important risk factors, and this study builds on that by focusing on nutritional status and physical function in a Taiwanese population.
Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: 1. Adults aged 18 or older. 2. Patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (based on medical history, diagnostic code, or use of hypoglycemic medication). 3. Participants are willing to participate in the study and have signed the consent form. 4. Participants are able to complete basic assessments (e.g., height, weight, waist circumference, grip strength, body composition, etc.). Exclusion Criteria: 1. Individuals who cannot understand the study content. 2. Individuals who cannot cooperate with relevant assessments. 3. Other individuals who are clinically deemed unsuitable for participation by the project leader.
