What this trial studies

This observational study collects patient-reported data using questionnaires to characterize long-term social and psychological outcomes after anti-NMDAR encephalitis. Adult patients (≥18) with confirmed NMDAR encephalitis who have internet access and are affiliated to a social security system are invited to participate. The study is coordinated by Hospices Civils de Lyon with collaboration from Charité University in Berlin and is conducted primarily via remote questionnaires. The goal is to fill gaps in knowledge about how the disease affects daily functioning and psychosocial well-being after the acute phase.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (18 or older) with confirmed NMDAR encephalitis who are not under guardianship, are affiliated to a social security system, and can access the internet and a computer are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People without NMDAR encephalitis, those under guardianship or curatorship, or those with neurological disorders predating the encephalitis are excluded and unlikely to benefit from this project.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could identify lasting social and psychological needs and inform rehabilitation, support services, and follow-up care for survivors.

How similar studies have performed: A few cohort studies have reported persistent cognitive impairment after NMDAR encephalitis, but long-term psychosocial outcomes are still relatively untested and this project is addressing a novel evidence gap.
