What this trial studies

This is an observational study enrolling adults with degenerative, orthopedic, or neurological musculoskeletal conditions who receive individualized home exercise programs after a clinical examination. Researchers will collect demographic, clinical, psychosocial, and functional data and use validated outcome measures to quantify adherence. Adherence behaviors will be compared across diagnostic groups to identify patterns and differences. The goal is to clarify determinants of adherence to inform more effective, condition-specific strategies for promoting sustained engagement in home-based rehabilitation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (18+) with a primary degenerative, orthopedic, or neurological musculoskeletal condition who have been prescribed an individualized home exercise program and can communicate and give informed consent.

Not a fit: People with major psychiatric illness, cognitive dysfunction, communication disorders, or significant systemic illnesses that affect exercise capacity are excluded and unlikely to benefit from this study's findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help clinicians design home exercise programs that patients are more likely to follow, improving rehabilitation outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research on adherence to home exercise programs is common but has shown mixed results, with psychological, social, and clinical factors repeatedly implicated.
