What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the impact of intravesical therapy using BCG or mitomycin C on both short- and long-term lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with urinary bladder carcinoma. Participants will complete validated questionnaires to objectively measure irritative and obstructive symptoms. The findings will help refine treatment recommendations for patients undergoing instillation therapy. The study focuses on understanding the side effects of chemotherapy on urinary function.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with urinary bladder carcinoma who require instillation therapy and have had complete tumor resection.
Not a fit: Patients who cannot complete the questionnaires or have contraindications for instillation therapy will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for patients experiencing urinary symptoms after chemotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored the effects of chemotherapy on urinary symptoms, this specific approach using validated questionnaires is relatively novel.
