What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between body fat distribution, as measured by CT scans, and the risk factors associated with metabolic and cardiovascular diseases in a prospective cohort of Japanese men and women. The study will focus on the significance of visceral fat accumulation and its correlation with conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. Additionally, the research will investigate novel risk factors using metallomics analysis to assess trace elements in the body. By evaluating fat accumulation in various tissues, the study seeks to provide insights into the unique health risks faced by the Japanese population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Japanese men and women who are at risk for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or may become pregnant will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and prevention strategies for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases in high-risk populations.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on fat distribution and metabolic diseases, this specific approach focusing on the Japanese population and simultaneous evaluation of multiple fat deposits is relatively novel.
