Integrative neuromuscular training for children and adolescents with cancer
Integrative Neuromuscular Training in Adolescents and Children Treated for Cancer- a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial
NA · Rigshospitalet, Denmark · NCT04706676
This study is testing a 6-month exercise program to see if it can help children and teenagers with cancer get stronger, feel better, and improve their overall health during treatment.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a 6-month integrative neuromuscular training program on children and adolescents undergoing treatment for cancer. It aims to improve lower body muscle strength, metabolic health, and overall physical function while reducing hospital stays and enhancing quality of life. Participants will engage in structured exercise designed to counteract the physical impairments caused by cancer treatment, with a focus on maintaining motivation and adherence throughout the program. The study is conducted across multiple hospitals in Denmark, utilizing a randomized controlled trial design.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children and adolescents diagnosed with any malign or benign disorders treated with chemotherapy and/or irradiation.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental or physical disabilities, terminal illness, or those unable to communicate in Danish may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve physical function and quality of life for young cancer patients during and after treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that structured exercise can effectively improve physical function in pediatric cancer patients, suggesting this approach may yield positive results.
