What this trial studies
This study aims to develop an integrated assessment system for older cancer patients that combines geriatric issues, health behaviors, mental health, and social determinants of health. The Integrated Aging Assessment for Action for Cancer Patients (IA3-CP) will utilize a validated screening tool and a web-based portal to gather comprehensive patient-reported data. By implementing this system, the study seeks to enhance treatment discussions and supportive care for older adults diagnosed with various cancers. The approach includes co-creation engagement strategies to ensure the assessment is practical and actionable for clinicians.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults aged 65 and above who are English or Spanish speakers and attending their initial oncology visit.
Not a fit: Patients younger than 65 or those who speak a language other than English or Spanish may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more personalized and effective treatment plans for older cancer patients.
