What this trial studies

This observational study aims to assess fracture risk factors related to osteoporosis in the Chinese population using the WHO's FRAX tool. Preliminary findings suggest that the FRAX estimates may underestimate fracture risks in this demographic. The study will establish a treatment threshold and optimal cutting point for risk prediction based on data collected from individuals over 40 years old who have undergone dual-energy X-ray bone mineral density measurements. Regular follow-ups will be conducted to monitor participants' health and fracture risks.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals over 40 years old who have undergone bone mineral density testing and are capable of providing informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients under 40 years of age or those with a history of hip replacement, lumbar surgery, or effective anti-osteoporosis treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to more accurate fracture risk assessments and improved prevention strategies for osteoporosis in the Chinese population.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using fracture risk assessment tools, but this specific approach tailored for the Chinese population is novel.
