Exploring the link between glycoxidation and arterial health in at-risk individuals
The Role of Glycoxidation on Arterial Biomechanics and Target Organ Damage in Patients With Moderate to High Cardiovascular Risk. The GlycOxiTod Observational Multicentric Registry
Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Santiago · NCT06325800
This study looks at how certain changes in the body might affect artery health in people at risk for heart problems to see if they can spot early signs of damage.

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the relationship between glycoxidation, arterial biomechanics, and target organ damage in individuals with moderate to high cardiovascular risk. It aims to understand how glycation and oxidative stress affect arterial health and contribute to vascular aging. The study will collect demographic, clinical, and anthropometric data from non-smoking participants over 18 years old, who do not have diabetes or established cardiovascular disease. By analyzing these factors, researchers hope to uncover insights into the mechanisms of cardiovascular risk and potential early indicators of target organ damage.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are non-smoking adults over 18 years old with moderate to high cardiovascular risk.
Not a fit: Patients with diabetes mellitus or established cardiovascular disease will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and early detection of cardiovascular risks, potentially guiding preventive strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on glycoxidation and arterial biomechanics in healthy individuals is novel, related studies have shown success in understanding cardiovascular risk factors.
