What this trial studies

This study aims to determine the prevalence of periodontal diseases, such as periodontitis and gingivitis, in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) at the CRCM of the CHU of Reims. It will involve clinical examinations using specific periodontal probes to assess various clinical indices related to oral health. Additionally, the study will investigate associations between periodontal disease and factors like CFTR genotype, ventilatory capacity, and treatments administered. The research also aims to evaluate the prevalence of carious lesions and the impact of CF on oral health-related quality of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adult patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who are consulting at the Resource and Competence Center for Cystic Fibrosis of the C.H.U. from Reims.

Not a fit: Patients with medical histories that could compromise the protocol, such as psychiatric disorders or cancer, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved oral health management strategies for cystic fibrosis patients, enhancing their overall quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific focus on periodontal diseases in cystic fibrosis patients is less explored, related studies have shown associations between oral health and systemic conditions, suggesting potential for meaningful insights.
