What this trial studies
This study investigates whether initiating exercise prior to chemotherapy can reduce the negative side effects associated with treatment for ovarian cancer, such as cardiovascular issues and neuropathy. Participants will engage in high-intensity interval exercise, with the aim of preserving cardiovascular function and improving quality of life during and after chemotherapy. The study focuses on newly diagnosed women who are scheduled for surgery and chemotherapy, assessing the impact of sustained exercise throughout their treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 18 and older with a confirmed diagnosis of ovarian cancer who are about to start chemotherapy.
Not a fit: Patients with cancer recurrence or those who have had chemotherapy in the past five years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the quality of life and overall health outcomes for ovarian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using exercise to mitigate chemotherapy side effects, suggesting a potential for success in this approach.
