What this trial studies

This observational study aims to systematically characterize the gut microbiota of patients suffering from various critical chronic diseases, including different types of cancer and hypertension. By recruiting 500 patients for each disease and matching them with controls, the study will collect comprehensive demographic, lifestyle, and biological data, including feces, saliva, urine, and blood samples. The goal is to compare microbiome signatures across different regions and diseases, enhancing the understanding of microbial dysbiosis and its potential role in diagnostic models.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 with a confirmed diagnosis of one of the target diseases and residing in the study's geographic locations.

Not a fit: Patients with serious other medical conditions or those who have recently taken certain medications or supplements may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic models based on gut microbiota, potentially enhancing disease management for patients with critical chronic conditions.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on gut microbiota have shown promise, this multicentric approach focusing on critical chronic diseases is relatively novel and untested.
