Evaluating treatment options for stroke patients presenting after 24 hours

Triage of Patients Presenting Beyond 24 Hours From Last Known Well With Acute Ischemic Stroke Due to Large Vessel Occlusions (TRACK-LVO Late): a TRACK-LVO Registry-linked Cohort

Observational Tianjin Huanhu Hospital · NCT06200753

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to create a registry-linked cohort of patients with acute ischemic stroke caused by large vessel occlusions who present to participating centers more than 24 hours after their last known well time. The study will assess the outcomes of patients treated with endovascular therapy or the best available medical management. By focusing on patients with confirmed large vessel occlusions, the study seeks to fill the knowledge gap regarding the efficacy of endovascular therapy beyond the standard treatment window. Comprehensive patient data will be collected to analyze treatment outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who present with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusions more than 24 hours after their last known well time.

Not a fit: Patients with any form of cerebral hemorrhage at admission will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the effectiveness of endovascular therapy for stroke patients presenting late, potentially improving treatment protocols.

How similar studies have performed: While there is substantial evidence supporting endovascular therapy within 24 hours, the outcomes for late presentations remain uncertain, making this approach relatively novel.
