What this trial studies
This multicenter, prospective cohort study aims to assess the effects of traditional Chinese medicine on patients with pulmonary nodules identified through chest HRCT scans. A total of at least 2244 individuals will be recruited and divided into two groups: those receiving traditional Chinese medicine treatment and those who are not. Participants will be followed for a minimum of two years, with primary outcomes focusing on the growth or regression of pulmonary nodules. Secondary outcomes will include various health assessments related to the nodules and the patients' mental well-being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with pulmonary nodules who have been recommended for follow-up by a multidisciplinary team.
Not a fit: Patients with metastatic pulmonary nodules or those with benign conditions that do not require treatment may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine in managing pulmonary nodules, potentially offering a new treatment option.
How similar studies have performed: While traditional Chinese medicine has been explored in various contexts, this specific approach to treating pulmonary nodules is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
