What this trial studies
This study aims to assess whether a stakeholder-informed, standardized inpatient vaccination program can enhance influenza vaccination rates among hospitalized children in various U.S. pediatric health systems. Initially, a multidisciplinary team will be formed to create a best practice implementation guide for the vaccination program. Following this, the program will be piloted across three sites, and its effectiveness will be evaluated using an adaptive trial design across 12 health systems. The study will utilize established frameworks to measure the program's impact on vaccination rates.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 months and older who are admitted to an inpatient unit at a participating health system.
Not a fit: Patients admitted to critical care sites or hematology-oncology services may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly increase influenza vaccination rates among hospitalized children, leading to better health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar vaccination programs, indicating potential for positive outcomes in this approach.
