What this trial studies

This study investigates the impact of TECAR therapy, a form of diathermy that generates endogenous heat, on exercise preconditioning and post-exercise recovery in healthy male volunteers. Fifty participants will be randomly assigned to one of five groups, including a sham control and various TECAR treatment protocols before and after an eccentric exercise session targeting the knee extensors. The aim is to assess how different TECAR treatment modalities affect muscle fatigue and recovery following exercise.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are physically active males without recent musculoskeletal injuries.

Not a fit: Patients with current musculoskeletal injuries or a history of such injuries in the past month may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance recovery strategies for athletes and physically active individuals, potentially improving their performance and reducing injury risk.

How similar studies have performed: While TECAR therapy has been used in various contexts, this specific application in exercise recovery is novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
