What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the impact of consuming 1.5 cups of fresh mango daily for 12 weeks on various health markers in individuals with prediabetes. The study focuses on assessing changes in glycemic control, insulin resistance, lipid profiles, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Participants will be monitored for improvements in fasting glucose, insulin levels, cholesterol, and other related health indicators. The trial aims to provide insights into the potential health benefits of mango consumption in managing prediabetes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals with prediabetes, indicated by an HgbA1c of 5.7 to 6.4% and abdominal obesity.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic diseases, significant weight loss recently, or those with allergies to mango or latex may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could offer a natural dietary intervention to improve metabolic health in individuals with prediabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific effects of mango on cardiometabolic outcomes are not widely studied, similar dietary interventions have shown promise in managing prediabetes.
