What this trial studies
This project explores the feasibility of a mobile application called 'Pust Deg Bedre' designed to assist patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in self-management. The app provides tailored breathing and airway clearance techniques based on individual clinical assessments. Over an 8-week intervention period, patients will engage with the app, supported by physiotherapists who will provide training and follow-up. The study will collect both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the app's acceptability and effectiveness in managing symptoms like dyspnea and mucus secretion.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with COPD who experience mucus-related issues at least three times a week and can communicate in Norwegian.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental illness or substance abuse issues that hinder participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve self-management and quality of life for patients with COPD.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of digital health interventions in COPD management is gaining traction, this specific approach with the PDB app is novel and has not yet been clinically evaluated.
